BULLARD – Many teams have struggled against China Springs this season.

Add Bullard to the list after the Panthers lost, 17-5, to the Cougars (30-4) in Game 1 of a Class 4A-I, Region III Semi-Final series that took place at Bullard Thursday evening.

The Cougars battered four Panther (27-8) pitchers for 16 hits, with Dean Hannah leading the way by going 3-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI.

The Panthers’ Dylan Fowler blasted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the third.

Tucker Stainback stroked a single and drove in two runs while Jacksonville Holt added a base hit and an RBI.

Ty Rigsby accounted for Bullard’s remaining hit in the game.

Series action will continue at 2 p.m. Sat. afternoon when the two clubs do battle in China Spring.

Should a third game be needed, it would get underway 30 minutes after the completion of Game 2.
