Suspect arrested following deadly shooting in west Colorado Springs Tuesday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police in Colorado Springs said a deadly shooting investigation was underway on the west side of the city on Tuesday.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), a call came in at around 11:36 a.m. reporting a possible active burglary in the 1000 block of Fontmore Road, just east of Garden of the Gods.

Police said one adult woman was found dead on scene with at least one gunshot wound.

According to police, a male suspect fled from the scene in a vehicle.

Tuesday afternoon, police said the suspect was taken into custody by Colorado State Patrol.

According to court documents obtained by 11 News, the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Kevin Wells.

Police said they believe this was not a random act, and the people involved may have been known to each other.
