Police in Lilongwe have arrested 28 individuals for various offences during a targeted intelligence-driven operation conducted on Wednesday morning.

The joint operation involved officers from the Central West Region, PMS C-Division, and police stations at Lilongwe, Lingadzi, Kawale, and Kanengo, with the aim of enhancing safety and security in the city.

Among those arrested, 17 were apprehended for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, seven for illegal sand mining along the Lilongwe River, and four for unlawful possession of cannabis sativa and selling liquor without a license.

The suspects, aged between 25 and 45, are expected to appear in court soon to answer to the charges. Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
