I’VE MADE A LOT OF TELEVISION IN WISCONSIN. A FACE SYNONYMOUS WITH FOOD ON THE BIG SCREEN, THAT CELEBRITY CHEF ANDREW ZIMMERN SHOW ME ANOTHER STATE WHERE I CAN GO TO A REAL SMALL TOWN FISH FRY ON A FRIDAY AT A LOCAL VFW HALL, NOW PREPARING TO HIGHLIGHT EVERYTHING HE LOVES ABOUT WISCONSIN’S FOOD SCENE AT THIS YEAR’S NFL DRAFT. I THINK MILWAUKEE, IN A VERY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED FOOD CITIES IN AMERICA. IN BETWEEN HIS MANY TELEVISION SPECIALS, LIKE HERE IN SEASON FOUR OF WILD GAME KITCHEN. THIS IS MY HAPPY PLACE. ANDREW ZIMMERN AND THE NFL ARE HOSTING TASTE OF THE DRAFT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN GREEN BAY. SHOW ME ANOTHER STATE THAT HAS AS MANY SUPPER CLUBS THAT HAVEN’T CHANGED THEIR MENU SINCE CALVIN COOLIDGE WAS PRESIDENT. PEOPLE ATTENDING THE DRAFT CAN BUY TICKETS TO TASTE FOOD FROM 20 DIFFERENT SUPPER CLUBS. THINGS LIKE FRENCH ONION SOUP HAS BECOME SORT OF LIKE A WISCONSIN SUPPER CLUB STAPLE. THE MONEY RAISED WILL MAKE SURE KIDS IN WISCONSIN ARE FED. I DON’T THINK THERE’S A MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE IN AMERICA RIGHT NOW THAN THAN HUNGER. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL NONPROFIT GEN YOUTH. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT WILL BENEFIT KIDS IN WISCONSIN, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECTS WOMEN, PEOPLE OF COLOR AND CHILDREN. TASTE OF THE DRAFT IS HAPPENING THE NIGHT BEFORE THE BIG EVENT IN DOWNTOWN GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN. SUPPER CLUB THEME. CELEBRITY CHEFS. FORMER FOOTBALL PLAYERS. HALL OF FAMERS. PACKER LEGENDS. AND ZIMMERN ISN’T JUST HOSTING HIS CELEBRITY CHEF FRIENDS, SOMETHING TRANSFORMATIVE HAPPENS WHEN YOU ENJOY FOOD THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS PREPARED. HE’S ALSO IN THE KITCHEN. I’M DOING MY GRANDMOTHER’S TAILGATE POT OF LOVE, BOTH AS AN HOMAGE TO THE SUPPER CLUB AND AN HOMAGE TO THE FOOTBALL, TAILGATE FOOD, FOOTBALL AND FEEDING KIDS IN WISCONSIN. ZIMMERN HOPES THIS EVENT BRINGS IT ALL
