A man and his mother are facing felony charges for allegedly kidnapping a ten-month-old boy.

Kayden Ray Jensen, 29, was arrested on suspicion of child kidnapping, a first-degree felony; four counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, all class B misdemeanors; possession of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor; and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

Jensen's mother, Carley Yates, 48, was arrested on suspicion of child kidnapping, a first-degree felony.

On Sunday, an officer with the Vernal Police Department responded to the area of 47 West 600 North on a report of a possible child kidnapping.

The caller said Kayden Jensen took her ten-month-old son and fled in a black Chevy truck. He was not the biological father, the affidavit states.

She said she and Jensen were in a verbal argument when his mother, Carley Yates, took the baby.

The woman said she tried to get into the truck as the window was partially down but was unsuccessful.

She was hyperventilating and crying, the affidavit states.

While the officer was assisting at the scene, he got word that another officer found Jensen and Yates with the baby in Naples.

He also noticed a THC vape pen, which the woman said belonged to Jensen.

The officer left to interview Jensen and Yates.

Jensen told the officer he and his mother were trying to get the baby "out of a bad situation," which he clarified to be the previously mentioned verbal argument.

The officer asked Jensen if he had used any illegal substances such as marijuana or THC, but he denied it. He later said he uses THC pens.

Jensen and Yates were booked into the Uintah County Jail.
