A Boston-based marijuana advocacy group unveiled a 100-foot-long joint today at The Harvest Cup, an exhibition that drew hundreds of pot aficionados to the DCU Center in Worcester, where a wide range of pro-pot vendors were showcasing their wares.

The massive joint, rolled by Beantown Greentown, was stuffed with 1,000 grams of the group’s own marijuana and was a real hit with spectators.

Beantown Greentown co-owner Andrew Mutty said members of the group came up with the idea when they realized there was no world record for longest joint.

“Just all of us one day, sitting around, being inebriated and someone said, 'what is the world record for the longest joint?' And the situation evolved into a little bit of research and looking online and there was a one pound joint we found, but no one did it in a continuous length,” Mutty said. “So we thought, let’s set the bar kind of high and see if anyone else wants to try and break a record."

Conventiongoers lined up to see the 30-yard spliff, which  was unveiled at 4:20 p.m.

“We’re wondering how we here are going to smoke it,” joked Peter Drozd, of Pittsfield.

Anastasia Colby, 54, of Rindge, N.H., said "it's about damn time" a 100-foot joint could be legally displayed in public.

“Maybe this shows how far we've come and how long the road was," she said.

Bay State voters legalized the possession and consumption of marijuana last year. A new Cannabis Control Commission is currently writing regulations to govern the sale of cannabis, which is expected to being July 1.
