U.S. Coast Guard Offloads $2.4M Worth of Marijuana in Fort Lauderdale

The Coast Guard Cutter Seneca offloaded more than one ton of marijuana worth an estimated $2.4 million dollars Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale.

The Coast Guard Cutter Diligence, a 210-foot vessel, interdicted 2,600-pounds of drugs during an operation 80 miles south of Haiti.

Several governmental agencies are involved in the joint effort to combat transitional organized crime, with the U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, Drug Enforcement Agency and more playing a role in counter-drug operations.

Last week, a U.S. Coast Guard operation offloaded an estimated $56 million worth of cocaine in Jacksonville and transferred eight suspected smugglers.
